Your Android phone can become the checkout

SoftPOS — also called Tap-to-Phone — lets a compatible NFC-enabled Android device read a contactless card or phone directly, with no separate card machine.

How a payment flows

Four steps at the counter

A simple, familiar flow for the customer, and one less device for the merchant to carry.

1

Open the app

Merchant enters the amount in Pula.

2

Tap the card

Customer taps a contactless card or phone.

3

Secure processing

The payment is authorised and processed.

4

Confirmation

Both sides see the result and a digital receipt.

What sits behind it

A specialist acceptance solution

PayKarata's SoftPOS capability is based on a white-label Tap-to-Phone solution from a specialist vendor, integrated with our payment processing and merchant management platform.

  • Contactless scheme support

The underlying vendor solution supports contactless acceptance for major card schemes, including Visa and Mastercard.

  • Vendor security certification

The vendor's SoftPOS solution is designed around PCI MPoC and PCI DSS certification. This describes the vendor solution, not a blanket certification of every PayKarata component.

  • Device requirements

Requires a compatible Android device with NFC. Specific device and OS compatibility is subject to final rollout and certification.

  • Digital confirmation

Merchant and customer receive a transaction result and digital receipt at the point of sale.

Certification statements refer to the underlying vendor solution. PayKarata's own controls are subject to production validation, partner evidence and applicable regulatory requirements.
